GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville School Board discussed at length last night how to best to use a streamlined data system about to be implemented by the school system.

Jamey Moore, Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Gainesville School District, demonstrated the system, called "Insight." The presentation was used to give the board an idea of the data systems that will be used to measure teacher, student, and district performance.

It compares the performance of the same group of students from one year to the next using the CRCT score.

Discussion among board members centered on how school officials could better use the data to report to parents, calling for ways to present the data so that parents understand it and will use it.

Also Monday night, school officials displayed a symbolic $1 million check, representing the savings to taxpayers of the school systems energy-saving program.
