Winds reached nearly 50 mph during storms

GAINESVILLE - Peak winds during Monday afternoon's storms reached nearly 50 miles-an-hour at the Gainesville airport.

Readings at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport show the top gust of the day occurred shortly after 5:00 as the worst of the storm system passed through the city. That's when a gust of 47 miles-an-hour was recorded.

Rainfall at the airport Monday totaled .87 inches, most of it falling in a brief period of time around 5:00.
