Tennis: West Hall boys rally past GHS

GAINESVILLE -- It went down to the final point as Max Wilson won the final five points in a second set tiebreaker at No. 2 singles to cap West Hall's 3-2 come-from-behind win over Gainesville Thursday in boys Region 8B-AAA action.

Gainesville took a 2-0 lead with wins at No. 1 singles and at No. 2 doubles but the Spartans rallied to win the final three matches.

Gainesville's Ryan Joiner beat Brenden Worth 6-2, 6-1 and the No. 2 doubles team of Alex Davis and Alex Zais beat Grayson Kyle and Ryan Casey 6-1, 4-6, 6-0.

West Hall got wins from Connor McFall, who beat Austin Miller 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 3 singles and from the No. 1 doubles team of Tatum Scroggs and Min Kim, who beat Jackson Goble and Jake Maddox 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 setting up Wilson's win.

Wilson beat Connor McMorrow 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 2 singles to clinch the win.

The team win kept West Hall perfect on the season at 7-0, 4-0 in subregion play.
