Judges named to hear Ga. Lake Lanier appeal

ATLANTA - A three-judge federal panel has been named to hear Georgia's appeal of a lower court ruling on water withdrawals from Lake Lanier.

The state is appealing U.S. District Judge Paul Manguson's ruling that will bar much of the withdrawals from Lanier starting next summer.

The three judges who have been named to hear the case include one from Georgia, R. Lanier Anderson of Macon; another from Florida, Stanley Marcus of Miami; and one from Illinois, Richard Mills of Springfield.

The hearing on the appeal is scheduled March 9.
