GAINESVILLE - "Inside Edition" was in Gainesville Monday.

A crew from the syndicated people-oriented television news magazine program was here to film a segment on Bianca Vera and the city police officers and firefighters involved in rescuing her Feb. 10 after she jumped into the frigid waters of Lake Lanier.

They were reunited about noon Monday at Fire Station #1 on Pine Street.

Vera was hospitalized for several days after jumping four stories from the bridge on Dawsonville Highway near Gainesville Marina following a minor accident. Vera says she got out of her car to inspect the damage and decided to jump into the water when she saw a tractor-trailer headed her way and out of fear it would skid on the icy pavement and strike her.

Vera has said it took her about 45 minutes to swim 100 yards to shore in the cold water. The 22-year-old nursing student and North Georgia College & State University suffered a broken vertebrae and bruises.

Locally, Inside Edition can be seen Monday-Friday at 7:30 p.m. on WGCL in Atlanta.
