One case involves a northeast Georgia youngster... two-year-old Holden Young of Rabun County.
The AJC found that state child welfare officials were in the process of trying to remove him and his sister from their mother when she fled with them. Their car crashed and the boy was killed.
The Rabun County Sheriff's Office says the mother, 24-year-old Misty Bleckley, is charged with DUI, reckless conduct and vehicular homicide.
The other deaths occurred in Coweta, Chatham and Troup counties.
News of the deaths and the state investigation came to light last week. (See earlier story.)
