WHHS teacher wins state award

OAKWOOD-West Hall High Principal Dr. Greg Williams has announced that Drama teacher Sarah Lindahl Gomez has been named the "2011 Outstanding Theater Educator" for the state. Ms. Gomez received the award on February 10, 2011 at annual Georgia Thespian Conference in Columbus, Georgia. She was nominated by WHHS drama student Malcom Moon.

Dr. Williams had highest praise for Ms. Gomez and her accomplishment, "Sarah is one of the most imaginative, creative instructors we have at West Hall High School. She builds a community of mutual respect and love for theater in her classroom. We are blessed to have her on our staff and look forward to more of her wonderful instruction for many years."

Under her leadership, the WHHS drama students won the GHSA One Act Play competition in 2010, finishing 4th in State. Georgia Thespians presents the award to recognize an individual who has dedicated himself or herself to the cause of theatre education and the promotion of the fine arts in his or her community.
