ATLANTA - A state senator is reviving a proposal to let Georgia voters designate $10 from vehicle registration fees into a trauma care trust fund.

Republican Sen. Greg Goggans of Douglas proposed similar legislation last year that asked voters if they were willing to add $10 to their vehicle registration fee. The amendment passed in the Legislature, but failed on the 2010 ballot 53 percent to 47 percent - a margin of about 130,000 votes.

Goggans says the current amendment filed Wednesday raises no fees or taxes and that the funds would only be used for trauma care. If approved, the referendum would be placed on the 2012 election ballot for consideration by Georgia voters.
