UNDATED - Special elections in Hall and Gwinnett counties are just over a month away... and early voting is about to begin.

Hall County voters will be asked on March 15 to approve an extension of the education SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) during a countywide referendum. Early voting for that issue begins Wednesday at the county elections office on Browns Bridge Road.

Interim Director of Elections and Voter Registration Charlotte Sosebee says the hours for early voting will be 8:00-5:00 daily, Monday through Friday. However, she says absentee ballots will not be available for mail-out until Monday, Feb. 14, and can be requested by mail or fax.

Sosebee said the last day to register to vote in the referendum is also Feb. 14 and sample ballots are available by mail, in the elections office or on the office's Web site.

March 15 is also the day Gwinnett countians go to the polls in a special county commission chairman election. Early voting there begins Monday, February 14, and only at the elections office on Langley Drive in Lawrenceville.

Elections director Lynn Ledford added "because we are not opening up the satellite locations we are extending our early voting hours for the week of March 7th through 11th. Our main office will be open for voting from that week from 9:00-7:00.:

Early votings ends in both Hall and Gwinnett counties on Friday, March 11.
