Girls basketball: Rabun knocks off Union County

BLAIRSVILLE -- Class AA No. 5 Rabun County moved to within one-half game of first place and sixth-ranked Fannin County in Region 8A-AA after knocking off Union County 54-46 Saturday night.

The Lady Wildcats (22-1, 7-1 in subregion) are off until closing out the regular season against Fannin County (20-1, 8-1) at home for the subregion title.

Holli Abernathy scored 17 points and Becka Merritt added 12 for Union County (10-11, 3-5).
