OAKWOOD -- The Johnson boys won consecutive games for the first time since December after taking a 74-62 win over Oconee County Saturday night at the Johnson gym.

The Knights (11-13, 3-8 in Region 8B-AAA) were led by Matt Hollis with 22 points and Ty Odem with 16 points. Senior Cam Schofield, who has played sparingly since breaking his nose more than a month ago, had his best game of the season with 17 points, 10 rebounds, four steals, and five assists for Johnson.

It was a big win for Johnson, which moved one-half game ahead of the Warriors (5-18, 2-8) in the subregion standings into fifth place and out of the bottom two spots. The bottom two teams will meet in a play-in game next week to make the region tournament.

Oconee County was led by Byron Stufken with 27 points and Dustin Phillips with 21 points.

The Warriors jumped out quickly to an 18-10 lead after the first quarter but the Knights responded by outscoring the Warriors 18-10 in the second quarter to go into the half tied 28-28. Johnson continued it's surge in the 3rd quarter outscoring Oconee 23-8 for a 51-36 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Johnson extended it's lead to 62-41 with about 5:30 minutes to play before the Warriors closed the game on a 21-12 run for the final margin.
