Fire closes busy Lumpkin Co. road

DAHLONEGA - A busy Lumpkin County road was closed for a time early Thursday because of a house fire.

Officials said that Auraria Road near Price Road was closed because of the fire which was reported about 4:30. It was not until around 6:30 that the road reopened.

There were no injuries but officials said at first they thought five people might be trapped in the burning house but they later learned they are on vacation.
