The Atlanta airline said late Monday that it flew paying passengers 14.31 billion miles last month, compared with 14.59 billion miles in November of 2010.
Domestic traffic was up 1.4 percent, while mainline traffic which excludes regional flying rose 1.6 percent. Traffic fell 11 percent across the Atlantic and 7 percent across the Pacific. Results increased the most in Latin America, where traffic rose 5.6 percent from a year earlier.
Planes were fuller as the airline cut back the number of available seats. Delta's number of available seats, or capacity, fell 4.1 percent across its system. The most drastic cuts were made in flying to Europe and Asia, where traffic had been weakest.
The carrier's load factor, or occupancy rate, rose 1.9 percentage points to 81.4 percent. Domestic planes were even more full on average, at 83.5 percent.
Delta shares slipped 11 cents to $8.50 in premarket trading Tuesday.
