Sgt. Richie Thibeault, who received two Purple Hearts for injuries suffered while serving in Afghanistan in 2009, and Capt. Mike Cook were honored for their service to America. They rode in a Jeep sponsored by Providence Baptist Church of Batesville.
Members of the Georgia National Guard, led by Habersham County native Adjutant Gen. Jim Butterworth, also partipated in Saturday's parade.
There also were a number of floats, walking entries, motorized entries, and the Habersham Central High School Band of Blue, as well as the arrival of Santa Claus.
