HOSCHTON - A custody discussion at a Hoschton restaurant led to the stabbing of one man and the arrest of another earlier this week in Jackson County.

Jackson County authorities told the Athens Banner-Herald that 37-year-old Phillip Stone Johnson of Hoschton was having dinner Tuesday at Taco Mac in downtown Hoschton with his estranged wife, their two children and the wife's new boyfriend.

The wife told police Johnson had too much to drink at dinner, and when they all returned to Johnson's house to continue the discussion, that's when the stabbing occurred.

The police report said Johnson chased the boyfriend onto Highway 53. A motorist saw what was happening and struck Johnson with his vehicle to stop the attack, according to the report.

At last report, Johnson remained in custody in Jackson County. The stabbing victim, whose name was not released, is expected to make a full recovery.
