GDOT unveils winter weather webpage

ATLANTA - With the first anniversary of last winter's major snowstorm just a couple of months away, transportation officials in Georgia are unveiling a newly designed inclement weather section of their website.

The new winter weather page went live Thursday. Chairman Rudy Bowen says the new webpage will help the department immediately update the public on road conditions.

In addition to the new webpage, the department also plans to increase use of social media like Facebook and Twitter to distribute information and update the public in the event of severe weather. The department will continue to transmit information through the traditional means of radio, television and newspapers.
