STATESBORO - Police are investigating two armed robberies within the past 24 hours at Georgia Southern University.

Authorities say an Ogeechee Technical College student was shot in the hand Sunday night near GSU's Paulson Stadium.

Less than 24 hours later, a Georgia Southern student was robbed at gunpoint on a jogging trail near the GSU Recreation Activity Center.

GSU Police Chief Mike Russell says it has been two years since the school had an armed robbery on campus and now two such crimes have occurred in 24 hours.

Police say they aren't sure whether the robberies are connected.
