GAINESVILLE - The search is on for two men who robbed a Fiesta Cab driver at gunpoint over the weekend in Gainesville.

Gainesville Police Dept. spokesman Joe Britte said the cabbie picked up two young Hispanic men on Woodlake Drive Saturday afternoon and dropped them off at Ridgecrest Apartments around 4:40. That's when he told police they pulled a gun on him.

"They took some cash from him and a cell phone," said Britte. He said the driver was not hurt.

Britte said police need some help from the public on this case.

"[There were]no witnesses at all," said Britte. "That's why we are desperately seeking any information from our citizens out there."

Britte said the suspects have similar descriptions. Both are Hispanic males with black hair and brown eyes, both about 5'8" and both weighing about 160 lbs. He said one is believed to be about 18 years of age, while the other is closer to age 25.

Britte said this armed robbery is not linked to others in the county in recent weeks.
