OAKWOOD - The City of Oakwood plans two town hall meetings to discuss an Oakwood 2030 vision update on creating greater access to Lake Lanier for Oakwood citizens.

The "Linking Lake Lanier to Our Community" meetings are scheduled for Nov. 15 and 17 at City Hall, starting at 6 p.m. each day. The Mayor, City Council and city staff are asking for citizen input as Oakwood explores opportunities to create greater public access to Lake Lanier.

Developing areas for outdoor activities and fostering healthy lifestyles are key components of Oakwood 2030, the city's comprehensive blueprint for the future. Consequently, public access to Lake Lanier is a natural fit for Oakwood 2030, according to City Manager Stan Brown.

"With Lake Lanier so close to our city, we are seeking greater access and recreational opportunities for our citizens," Brown said. "But first, we want to gauge our citizens' level of interest and listen to their ideas."
