Woman critically injured in wrong-way crash on I-85 identified

BRASELTON - The woman, reportedly driving the wrong way on I-85 near Braselton Friday morning, who was critically injured when her SUV struck everal other vehicles, has been identified.

Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright identified her late Friday as Linda Kay Corlew, 34, Buford.

Wright said Corlew was traveling south in the northbound lane when she side-swiped a tractor trailer, then a Jeep Cherokee, a second tractor trailer, and then hit a van in the front end.

He said Corlew was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Steve Marion Ferguson, 49, Calhoun, driver of the second tractor trailer, was treated at the scene and Shawn Olen McDowell, 30, Jefferson, driver of the van was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center.

Wright added that Corlew has been charged with DUI, driving on the wrong side of the road, and seat belt violation.
