Contract awarded for Don Carter State Park construction

ATLANTA - The contract has been awarded for the construction of Don Carter State Park, which is planned in North Hall.

Kim Hatcher, spokeswoman for the state Department of Natural Resources, said Tuesday work could begin by the end of the year and take up to two years to complete.

The $11 million contract was awarded Cherokee County-based Astra Group Inc.

Don Carter State Park will be located on 1,000 acres on Lake Lanier off North Browning Bridge Road.
