Georgia State edges South Alabama in 2OT

ATLANTA -- Donald Russell rushed 20 times for a school-record 137 yards and scored on an 8-yard run in the second overtime to help Georgia State beat South Alabama 27-20 and snap a five-game losing streak Saturday.

The Jaguars drove to the 2 on their final possession, but C.J. Bennett's pass was intercepted by Mark Hogan to end the game.

South Alabama (4-3) forced overtime when Bennett drove his team 54 yards in the final 4:26. He threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Corey Waldon with 4 seconds left to tie the game 20-20.

The first overtime concluded with missed kicks.

The Panthers (2-5) rallied behind sophomore quarterback Kelton Hill, who completed 12 of 15 passes for 209 yards in his first start and threw two touchdown passes to Albert Wilson. Wilson caught five passes for a school-record 175 yards, including a school-record 78-yard touchdown and a 64-yard score.
