Miscues cost West Hall in loss to Monroe Area

MONROE -- Two early second half turnovers helped turn a scoreless first half into a 34-0 blowout win for Monroe Area over West Hall Friday night In Region 8B-AAA action.

The Purple Hurricanes scored quick touchdowns after both West Hall miscues and also returned a blocked punt for a touchdown in the second half.

West Hall also had trouble against a quick Monroe Area defense, which held the Spartans (2-6, 2-2 in subregion) to just 84 total yards for the game. Chandler Newton was limited to just 5-of-11 passing for 48 yards and Antonio Pittman managed just 25 yards rushing on 10 crarries for the game.

The win for Monroe Area (6-2, 3-1) secured second place in subregion and a shot at the state playoffs.
