Prep football: Buford set to play on Thursday in Atlanta

With a limited number of stadiums available in Atlanta and Buford football facing a road trip this week, the Wolves find themselves playing on Thursday night.

Top-ranked Buford will travel to face Clarkston at Hallford Stadium in Atlanta.

The Wolves (7-0, 1-0 Region 6A-AA) have dominated every opponent faced so far this season, outscoring opponents 318-34 (that's an average score of 45.4-4.9. Buford's defense is allowing a paltry 112.2 yards per game, while the Wolves are rolling up an average of 359.2 yards per contest.

Clarkston (1-4, 0-0 Region 6A-AA), meanwhile, has lost four straight contests, managing just 13 points all season. The Angoras defense is allowing 34. 2 points per contest.

Having played a week before most programs and having had no bye week yet, Buford has just three games left on its regular season schedule. The Wolves will play this week and take next Friday off before facing Greater Atlanta Christian on Oct. 21 in Buford. The Wolves will wrap the 2011 regular season in a region play-in game on Nov. 4.

Quarterback Sam Clay has completed 63 percent of his passes on the season for 498 yards, 7 TDs and just 1 interception. ... Fourteen different Wolves have scored touchdowns on offense this season. ... Buford's defense is paced by 25 tackles from Korie Rogers. He also has three forced fumbles. Johnson is second with 23 stops, while Nathan Staub has 22. Alabama commit Dillon Lee has 19 stops and is tied for a team-high with four sacks. Rick LeGrant leads the team with six tackles for loss.
