Girls basketball: Lakeview falls to Athens Academy

WATKIONSVILLE -- Athens Academy started strong and Lakeview Academy was not able to recover in a 46-24 win over the Lady Lions Saturday in Region 8-A action.

Athens Academy led Lakeview 26-11 at halftime and then held the Lady Lions scoreless in the third quarter to blow the game open.

Taylor Handte paced Lakeview with eight points and Mona Abraham had six points.

Lakeview Academy will have nearly a week off before traveling to Class A No. 7 Towns County on Friday.
