Sosebee: Recall inquiries

GAINESVILLE - The head of the Hall County elections office says she's had inquiries about the procedures for recalling elected officials from two people since the first of the year, but no names were mentioned.

Reports have surfaced of an effort to recall at least one county commissioner, Craig Lutz, in light of the recent firings of four top county officials, and an attempt to strip the commission chairman of some of his powers.

Charlotte Sosebee said both of the people who asked about recalls did not pursue the matter further after she explained that state law prohibits the recall of a public official during the first 180 days he or she is in office.
