Girls basketball: North Hall knocks off No. 6 Chestatee

GAINESVILLE -- Chestatee's seven-game win streak came to an end Tuesday night in a 44-39 loss to North Hall in a crucial Region 8A-AAA matchup at the Chestatee gym.

The game was back-and-forth the entire way with Class AAA No. 6 Chestatee leading 6-5 after the first quarter and North Hall taking a20-18 lead into halftime. The Lady War Eagles (16-3, 4-1 Region 8A-AAA) rallied to take a 28-27 heading into the fourth quarter but couldn't hold it.

The Lady Trojans (9-10, 4-1) outscored Chestatee 17-11 in the final period to pull off the upset.

North Hall was led by MaryKate Rushton with 15 points. McKenna Rushton added 11 points and Sarah Paschall pulled down 13 rebounds for the Lady Trojans.

Erin Clifford paced Chestatee with nine points. Rachel Kelly had eight points and five rebounds while Peyton Robertson was held to just six points and seven rebounds for the Lady War Eagles.

Chestatee next travels to Stephens County on Friday. North Hall plays host to Lumpkin County Friday.
