In the past, pet owners in Cornelia were given a warning prior to receiving citations for unvaccinated pets. But city officials say that has changed - there won't be any more warnings.
"To insure the safety and health of residents and pets, Cornelia has adopted a 'zero tolerance' policy for meeting state vaccination requirements," Mona Painter, the city's Special Projects Manager, said. "In the past, city pet owners were given a warning prior to receiving citations for unvaccinated pets. Residents are advised that warnings will no longer be given, and owners will receive citations and fines if pets are not vaccinated as required by Georgia state law."
To combat this problem and help owners comply with state law, Mill Creek Veterinary Hospital in Clarkesville is offering reduced rate vaccinations on Saturday, February 5 from 12:30-2:00. The cost will be $10 for a one-year and $25 for a three-year rabies vaccination.
