An unassisted goal from forward Andy Brandt at the 5:59 mark in the first period gave the Glads an early 1-0 lead. This would mark his 9th of the year, and unleashed a flurry of teddy bears from the Gladiators faithful on Teddy Bear Toss Night.
The Everblades however would draw even three minutes later with a goal from Ross Carlson. At the end of one period the score remained 1-1 with Florida outshooting Gwinnett by a margin of 11-6.
The Everblades added one goal in the second period on a vicious shot from the near circle from Alexandre Imbeault. His 21st of the season gave the Everblades their first lead of the night with a at 12:20 to make it 2-1.
The Glads threatened through much of the third but were turned away by Florida goaltender Bobby Goepfert. In a last gasp effort Mike Forney set up Brandt with a centering feed and the veteran made no mistake, beating Goepfert with just 17.1 seconds remaining in the third to even the score at two.
Tom Zanoski added an assist on Brandt's second of the night, making this the third straight game Gwinnett came back from a third period deficit.
The momentum was short-lived. At the 3:08 mark in overtime Carlson earned his second tally of the night to give the Everblades a 3-2 win.
Gwinnett is back in action on Monday at a special time of 12:30 p.m. to host the South Carolina Stingrays.
