ATLANTA - First came the snow and ice, now comes the deep freeze.

Temperatures across much of north Georgia expected to plunge to around 20 Tuesday night "and it will be a hard freeze overnight and into tomorrow (Wednesday) morning," according to The Weather Channel's Jennifer Nittoso.

Nittoso says readings will then dip into the teens Wednesday and Thursday night in much of north Georgia while daytime highs remain in the 30s.

"We should get into the 40s as we get into the weekend," she added. "I don't think it will be until we get to Friday, at the earliest, but more likely the weekend before we see significant widespread melting."
