Cornwell suspect's father calls ordeal "a nightmare"

UNDATED - The father of the man Georgia Bureau of Investigation officials are calling a "prime suspect" in Kristi Cornwell's disappearance said he has been in constant contact with authorities since his son committed suicide in April.

"It is a nightmare and we don't know what to say," said James Carringer, Sr. as he talked with Fox 5 News.

Carringer said that he knows some members of the Cornwell family and his heart breaks for their loss.

"We just hate that it's happened," he said.

Kristi Cornwell's brother discovered her remains Saturday after following James Scott Carringer's cell phone records into the Union County woods, roughly nine miles away from where Kristi disappeared in August 2009.
