ATLANTA - Storms that tore through north Georgia left thousands of people without power in metro Atlanta, while knocking down trees, and spawning lighting that reportedly caused two house fires but little damage was reported elsewhere

Hail was reported throughout the area when the storms moved through Monday night.

In the Gainesville area, there was one lightning strike reported, but Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell there was not damage, and he said a tree limb fell on a house in Lula.

A Georgia Power spokeswoman says 8,700 metro Atlanta customers lost power during the storm. The spokeswoman, Christy Ihrig, says 4,500 of the customers were in Chamblee.

She says all the outages were repaired by Tuesday morning.

The Federal Aviation Administration reported that flights arriving at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport were delayed an average of more than an hour.

George Gordon of the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety says lightning caused two house fires, but no injuries are reported.
