Proposal bans illegals from some colleges, universities

ATLANTA - A committee appointed by the state Board of Regents is recommending that illegal immigrants be barred from attending Georgia's most selective colleges and universities.

They include Georgia Tech, the University of Georgia, Georgia State, Medical College of Georgia, and Georgia College & State University.

Georgia News Network reports that the full board is expected to vote on the recommendation next month. The change would go into effect next fall if the board approves it.

The committee has been studying the matter all summer.
