GAINESVILLE - Gainesville's Mayor recently shared her thoughts on the qualities needed in Georgia's next governor.

Mayor Ruth Bruner said the next governor needs to build coalitions and provide the vision that will move Georgia beyond the partisan, regional and personal differences that have created gridlock in the state.

"We talk about gridlock in Washington, but we have gridlock in Georgia also," said Bruner, who made the comments in a video posted on the Georgia Municipal Association's website. "We need to make sure cities are a part of these coalitions and partnerships because we have a great need to be a seat at the table."

Bruner said over the past few years there's been a paralysis in the state because of a lack of vision.

"We all know the problems that we face and we need vision, thoughtful vision, to face challenges of transportation, infrastructure, taxation, roads and education," she said.
