ATLANTA -- Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson has good news and bad news.

Johnson says his Yellow Jackets avoided injuries in Saturday's 28-25 loss at Kansas. That's the good news.

The bad news is Johnson says the Yellow Jackets "didn't play hard enough to hurt anybody."

Georgia Tech (1-1) was No. 15 before the loss. It fell out of Sunday's Top 25.

Georgia Tech will play at North Carolina this week in its first Atlantic Coast Conference game.

Johnson said Sunday mistakes and poor special teams play contributed to the upset loss to Kansas, which ended its eight-game losing streak.

He says his players performed as if they wanted to leave Kansas and come home quickly.
