ROCKMART - Authorities say an ammonia leak at a west Georgia poultry plant sent 23 employees to the hospital.

An ambulance representative says employees at the Tip Top Poultry plant near Rockmart were taken to two different hospitals after complaining of breathing problems and irritation.

The representative said the leak was contained on site and no evacuations were necessary. Crews had been working on the system right before the leak.
Police say none of the injuries appear to be life-threatening.

The leak comes just a few days after an ammonia leak at a plant that freezes chickens near Mobile, Ala., sent dozens of people to the hospital.
