Police say Timothy Jackson, 41, of Flowery Branch and Linda Ann Hamby, 50, of Murrayville are each charged with four counts of felony theft by taking.
"What was unique in this was that the houses or the businesses were either for sale or for rent, so no one would notice they [the units] were gone for awhile," said Gainesville Police Lt. Carol Martin.
Martin said the stolen air conditioning units were dismantled and sold to scrap metal businesses.
