'Dub' Jones dies at 85

GAINESVILLE - Longtime retired Hall County educator Dub Jones has died.

Jones who was also a former member of the Hall County School Board died early today at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

Jones, who was 85, was also active in the textile mill baseball teams that were prevalent in north Georgia in the '40s and '50s. He was drafted into Minor League baseball by the Detroit Tigers

He was also a teacher and coach at Riverbend, East Hall and North Hall High Schools and served on the Hall County Board of Education.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 21 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 19, 2010 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Friday, Aug. 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
