ATLANTA - Kroger and Contessa Premium Foods, Inc. are recalling 24-ounce bags of Kroger brand Meals Made Simple Shrimp Linguini because it may contain milk without listing it on the label. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

Kroger is the product distributor and Contessa Premium Foods, Inc. is the product manufacturer. All Kroger brand Meals Made Simple Shrimp Linguini with UPC 1111097756 are being recalled. The product was distributed to all divisions of Kroger's retail stores.

This recall was initiated after Contessa Premium Foods, Inc. discovered that the Kroger brand Meals Made Simple Shrimp Linguini included an ingredient labeled as "Natural Flavors" that may have been constituted using milk or milk byproducts. Subsequent investigation indicates that this ingredient was included in the product at very small amounts but was not otherwise indicated on the allergen warning statement on the product's label.

Consumers who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk products and have purchased the recalled linguini are urged to either contact Contessa Premium Foods, Inc. at 1-888-832-8000 Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

"Georgia Department of Agriculture sanitarians will be checking grocery stores and food warehouses to make sure this product is removed from sale," said Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin.
