Huckabee to visit Gainesville on behalf of Deal

GAINESVILLE - Republican Nathan Deal will campaign with former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee before the GOP runoff for Georgia governor.

Huckabee won the Republican presidential primary in Georgia in 2008 and recently endorsed Deal's bid against fellow Republican Karen Handel. (See earlier story.)

The former Arkansas governor and talk show host is scheduled to appear with Deal at a rally and news conference at the Gainesville Civic Center on Sunday afternoon at 1:30.

The following day, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is coming to Atlanta to campaign for Handel.

The winner of the Aug. 10 runoff will face former Georgia Gov. Roy Barnes, a Democrat, in November's general election.
