Georgia Senate Minority Leader Robert Brown tells Georgia News Network he would like to see an income cap of six times the poverty level, or $132,000 a year for a family or four, in order to qualify for the HOPE scholarship.
Brown knows this may not be popular with everyone but he notes there was an income cap when the scholarships first became available. However, it was lifted as the money continued to roll in.
The HOPE scholarship and the Pre-K program are now in serious financial trouble. Earlier this week, state lawmakers and others said they are facing a $500 million shortfall. (See earlier story.)
