COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Clemson won't be able to earn Tigers coach Dabo Swinney an extra $1 million on the field this year.

Swinney's contract was released Wednesday under a Freedom of Information Act request. It guarantees the coach $1.75 million a year through the next five seasons.

It's a hefty increase over the $800,000 a year Swinney was paid in 2009. The raise was guaranteed when Clemson reached the Atlantic Coast Conference title game.

The Tigers can still get their coach a raise on the field. If Clemson wins the ACC title, Swinney's salary increases to the average salary of the seven highest-paid coaches in the league, or roughly $2 million.

The contract includes other incentives, like $37,500 for making the ACC title game and $150,000 for winning the national title.
