Temperatures today are again expected to reach the mid-90s across north Georgia with the heat index topping out at 105 in places. All but the mountain regions are under another Heat Advisory. (See link below.)
The National Weather Service is again cautioning against over-doing it if you are outside for any length of time... urging freqent breaks in the shade and keeping yourself hydrated.
As of yesterday in Gainesville, temperatures have been above normal (by several degrees in most cases) on 19 of the past 21 days. At times, temperatures have been running as much as nine degrees above normal.
COWETA FLOODING
Meanwhile, parts of Coweta County are also coping with some flooding.
A flash flood warning was issued overnight until 8:00 this morning after a storm dumped up to 5 inches of rain in the Newnan area.
The National Weather Service estimates that between 4 and 5 inches of rain fell across central Coweta County between midnight and 3:00 this morning.
Some streets in the Newnan area flooded and the weather service reports severe flooding in the ara of White Oak Golf Course in Newnan.
