WINDER - It's not unusual for voters to vacillate on election day, but now they can get vaccinated while they're trying to decide.

Barrow County Health Department nurse Susan Kristal vaccinated more than 200 people last week during a pilot ``Votes and Vax'' program, which offers tetanus and pertussis vaccine and the pneumococcal vaccine at no cost for those who show up to vote.

On election day, she'll be traveling to four Barrow County polling places to inoculate more voters.

The Barrow County Health Department received a federal grant to buy vaccine for the program. Kristal is hoping there will be enough money to run another Vote and Vax program for flu shots before the Nov. 2 election.
