LAWRENCEVILLE - The state Department of Transportation says it plans drainage repairs on State Route 316 westbound and the SR 316 Bridge to Pleasant Hill Road this weekend, if weather permits.

Crews will close the inside shoulder and the inside or left lane of SR 316 west from 8 p.m. Friday through the weekend until 5 a.m. Monday to work on the drainage system under the roadway. The closures start on SR 316 west just under the Boggs Road Overpass and continues west along entire length of the outside flyover bridge that leads to Pleasant Hill Road.

"Crews will remove the existing asphalt and roadway base to get to the damaged drainage pipe then remove the pipe and replace it," DOT Engineer Randall Davis said. "Finally the base and asphalt will be replaced. The extended, continuous work hours of the weekend will allow us to get the work done as quickly as possible and minimize the impact to traffic. We hope to finish Sunday afternoon but work is allowed until 5 a.m. Monday."
