Rasmussen Reports Poll: Deal, Handel tied for 1st

UNDATED - The latest Rasmussen Reports Poll shows the former 9th District Congressman and the former Secretary of State tied for the lead in the GOP primary for governor.

In the Rasmussen poll, Handel and Deal were tied with 25 percent of the vote. Oxendine has 20 percent.

This poll differs sharply from a poll commissioned by a Georgia newspaper consortium showing Oxendine still in the lead.

Scott Rasmussen said the difference in the polls is timing.

"They began doing their interviewing I believe July 7th or 8th," Rasmussen said. "That means a lot of their interview were done before the endorsements of Palin and Gingrich."

Sarah Palin endorsed Karen Handel and Newt Gingrich endorsed Nathan Deal.
