UNDATED - Reaction has been quick across Georgia to the federal government's law suit against Arizona's tough new immigration law which is scheduled to go into effect the end of the month.

Republican gubernatorial candidates were especially quick to pounce on the action.

Eric Johnson calls the suit "reprehensible."

Nathan Deal said it was a reckless action on the part of the Obama administration.

Karen Handel accused the White House of putting "politics and liberal special interest groups ahead of the rule of law."

However, Jerry Gonzalez - head of the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials - praised the action... adding "the lawsuit should give pause to the gubernatorial candidates talking about enacting or pushing for such a law in Georgia."

The Department of Justice (DOJ) suit seeks an injunction to delay the July 29 implementation of the law until the case is resolved. It ultimately wants the law struck down. (See separate story.)
