GAINESVILLE - A 77-year-old Gainesville man is facing a number of charges after shooting a 74-year-old man during a 4th of July block party Sunday night in Gainesville.

Hall County Sheriff's Col. Jeff Strickland said 74-year-old Cecil Dorsey and 77-year-old Carl Yarbrough were involved in a verbal altercation that evolved into something more.

"As the 74-year-old male began to walk away, he was shot with a small caliber handgun in his neck and ear area," he said.

Strickland said Dorsey was transported via air ambulance to Grady Hospital where he was listed in satisfactory condition at last check. He said Yarbrough is being held at the Hall County Jail without bond.
