YOUNG HARRIS - The Atlanta Journal-Constitution says the Georgia attorney general's office is looking into the finances of the agency that oversees the state's Brasstown Valley Resort after a plan to add a spa turned into a $2.6 million project.

Chris Clark, commissioner of the state's Department of Natural Resources, told the newspaper that the plan originally called for renovating one building at a cost of about $500,000.

Clark says the project grew into a spa with vaulted ceilings, waterfalls and teak floors.

Clark, who requested the investigation, says Michelle Bonner, a former acting director of the North Georgia Mountains Authority, is part of the investigation.
Her attorney, Matthew LaVallee, said neither he nor his client would comment.
