COLUMBUS - Refrigeration equipment manufacturer Kysor/Warren is expanding its Columbus operations and plans to add about 200 employees.

The company says the new hires are needed to meet an increase in demand this year. Kysor/Warren makes commercial refrigeration systems and display cases for supermarkets and is seeking to hire mostly manufacturing workers.

The company was forced to lay off about 10 percent of its salaried work force in 2009 and reduced work hours for hourly employees for several months. Kysor/Warren says business is up more than 30 percent this year and order rates this spring have doubled over last year.

Owned by the Wisconsin-based Manitowoc Company, Kysor/Warren currently employs about 800 full-time and temporary workers in Columbus.
